Helping organisations manage geostrategic risks and find opportunities to succeed in an uncertain world.
An Uncertain World
The world has become a much more uncertain place in recent years.
Over the last half decade, we have seen wars in Europe, increased tensions in the Indo-Pacific, a global pandemic whose effects are yet to end, new supply chain uncertainties, near constant attacks in cyberspace and the emergence of new technologies whose vulnerabilities may exceed their potential.
Some scientists and academics classify the current uncertainty as a ‘global polycrisis’ - which occurs when crises in multiple global systems become entangled in ways that reshape and intensify one another to produce harms both greater than and different to the sum of the harms they would produce separately.
Others argue that the fundamental architecture of the political and economic order that has provided the rules of the game in the international environment is being broken down – in part by deliberate action and in part by the inherent weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the design of our current international order.
Whatever the reason, both public and private organisations are finding it increasingly challenging to work out how to succeed in this uncertain world, where the global and the local intersect in unexpected ways and what has worked in the past no longer works in the present and will certainly lead to failure in the future.
How We Help
Specialisation and just-in-time business systems – the traditional planks of an efficient and profitable organisation – are, in an uncertain world, actually increasing the fragility of enterprises and reducing the resilience of organisations. Small crises can become catastrophic when outsized influences impact lean organisations.
Events are moving at such a pace that we struggle to understand and respond to one crisis before another is already upon us. And our immediate focus on delivering success today can often blind us to what is just over the horizon.
Time is not on our side. Few organisations have the luxury of the reflective moments and deep study and analysis of their operating environment so necessary to be adaptive and agile over time. It is why so many companies that have been highly successful in one era fail to exist in the next.
We can help you by providing that deep analysis and reflection you cannot afford to do without.

Helping organisations to navigate a safe and successful path into the future is our profession.
Geostrategic risks
The Harvard Business Review, the Economist Intelligence Unit, the World Economic Forum, the Financial Times and many other respected institutions have highlighted that more and more geostrategic risks are emerging in the world today.
Organisations, both large and small, are searching for assistance in understanding and mitigating those risks.
Geostrategic risks come in many forms:
Geopolitical risks are potential political, economic, military, and social risks that result from an organisation’s involvement in international affairs.
Geoeconomic risks to both nations and businesses resulting from changing trade dynamics, the weaponisation of technologies and supply chains, the retreat of globalising forces, and increasing trade sanctions and regulatory burdens across the world.
Technological risks that result from the introduction of critical and emergent technologies that create a hyperconnected operating environment where vulnerabilities increase the attack surface for cyber criminals and state-based actors.
Climate risks resulting from a rapidly changing climate that adversely impact on society, communities, and the economy.
Understanding geostrategic risks and the ways in which they interact is our passion.
Helping organisations to navigate a safe and successful path into the future is our profession.
